Professor Glenn Hendler co-edited Keywords Now Features New Entries on Critical Race Theory

The latest entry in the "Keywords Now" series--tied to Keywords for American Cultural Studies, co-edited by English professor Glenn Hendler--consists of brief posts on the terms "Critical," "Race," and "Theory," framed by a very brief introduction co-authored by Professor Hendler and his co-editor, Bruce Burgett of the University of Washington. Like the previous Keywords Now cluster connected to the January 6 events at the Capitol building, the hope is that people teaching with Keywords (and even those who are not) can use this cluster of pieces--and keywords in general--to help them and their students gain perspective on current events and debates. Check it out.

The prominent and engaging scholars and teachers who wrote about these keywords are as follows:

“Critical” is co-authored by Professors Dylan Rodriguez of the Department of Media and Cultural Studies at University of California at Riverside and Professor Shana Redmond of the English and Comparative Literature Department and the Center for the Study of Ethnicity & Race at Columbia University.

“Race” is written by Professor Rebecca Wanzo, Professor and Chair of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Washington University.

“Theory” is by Professor Tavia Nyong’o of the Departments of African American Studies, American Studies, and Theatre and Performance Studies at Yale University.
